Wiki upgrade

Looks like it's time to upgrade to MediaWiki 1.21! I'll update this post when it's done; until then, might want to hold off on edits.

ETA: Okay folks, upgrade is complete, extensions are back up and running. Report any weirdness you see to me. I've also tracked down the Exception error happening when you logged in with a username/password--I couldn't find a way to fix it properly, but I cheated and modified the MediaWiki code to stop erroring out. (It had something to do with getting a NULL language code; since our wiki is all "en", it's safe to set it to that instead of relying on the broken bits trying to get user preferences from cookies.)

Still get errors when syntax is set to S2:

Interesting--I am not seeing that error on that page? Section it's in? For instance, looking at this section I see highlighted S2:

Any section. I get it every time I open that page and there is syntaxhighlight set to S2 in it. The error message is repeated at least 20 times at the top. Will log out in FF and see if that makes a difference as I don't see it in Chrome.

Edit: logged out, cleared cache, logged back in; no longer getting it.

Oh good, I was getting worried it was something I just wasn't noticing, and I wasn't sure how to fix it!

Ok I'm sorry to say the error is back. I've just editing the style patching guide and got the error message again.

Well, this time I see the error too, which is great, because it's much easier to address something I can see the messages for. I will try and fix it when I can.

I think I found out what in the S2 language file (which I custom made) was causing the problem--it was looking for REGEX types to match REGEX style groups named. I didn't have any REGEX types defined, so it didn't understand why I had REGEX style groups named and gave warning notices when it didn't find matches in the REGEX types. To fix it quickly, I took them out; if S2 has regexes I do not know about them offhand. Can you check and see if pages are behaving now? You have have to use the refresh link in the drop down menu on top of pages while logged in. The one you linked was showing the error, now it isn't.

Unable to log in using my DW OpenID, http://pauamma.dreamwidth.org/. I get to the point where DW asks me for permission to validate my identity to the wiki, and whether I answer "yes, always" or "yes, this time", I get an access denied error. This is (I think) the first time I tried to login since that change, and I don't think anything changed in my Firefox configuration recently.

Firefox 21.0. More info - up to and including packet capture if needed - available upon request. Likewise for troubleshooting.

(And yes, I was logged into DW at the time, and I know DW sees my request, because when I answer "yes, always", the Wiki URL shows in the "trusted OpenID clients" list on DW.)

I suspected this wasn't a wiki problem--try now, there was a library rollback on the DW server side.

Yep, working now. (I missed the notice of DW OpenID problems, otherwise I wouldn't have been so quick to blame the wiki.)

There wasn't really an announcement, just reports here and there, and I wasn't POSITIVE, I just had a suspicion but not the focus to really confirm.
